Many men have held the title of the Flash over the years, including Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West. Tapping into the power of the "Speed Force", the Flash can run at light speeds. He remains one of DC's most popular characters, and has been featured in multiple animated shows, TV shows, and video games.

- The Flash has competed against Superman in numerous races to see which hero is faster. It has been revealed that the Flash is significantly faster than Superman, much to the Man of Steel's embarrassment.
- He is so fast that he has been able to travel through time or pass into other dimensions.
- After World War II, super hero comics fell out of favor. In 1956, DC comics published a new Flash story. It was popular enough that DC brought back other super hero comics, ushering in the Silver Age of Comics.
- Because of his super speed, the Flash has a super-high metabolism. He has to eat thousands of calories a day just to replenish his energy.
